Substance Black commenced from the minds of three friends - JV, Bojan and Luka in Zagreb, Croatia. What the three had in common was love for extreme metal, biomechanics and relationship between men and machine. Puzzle was there, but some pieces were missing. Those pieces joined the trio in near future - Q, Igor AKA Deimos and Sicke, so finally the puzzle that was Substance Black was done. Immediately after they assembled they started to work on what is later known as Skulptura EP - a four piece EP with each song giving a perspective on what our future holds for us (lirical wise) and how that future may sound (audio wise). Specifically, Deimos showed in his 4 minute piece that the same future we await with so much desire may be the beginning of our demise. Substance Black is here to explore that future and depict it in all it's melancholic, apocalyptic and sun-free glory and they tend to do it in the best way they know - unleashing a raw energy of sonic power.
Early days: Somewhere around fall 2003 Bojan G. called Ivor(JV) and asked him to create a noname band, that soon developed into ''metal'' band that mostly performed tributes to bands such as System of a down, Metallica, Slipknot, Immortal, etc. It took them approximately 2 years to buy their first instruments and basic gear, and shortly after when they realised how much they enjoy in playing ''metal'' they quickly turned to producing and creating theyr own sound and started writing lyrics for it.By that time it was late 2005.
It took them nearly 4 years to understand and create, what we can call the beginning's of Substance Black, and since 2009, they have been working on the EP known as Skulptura, since the release of EP, they are recording and preparing theyre first full studio album which will be released in early 2013, with another EP coming just before its release.- preuzeto s njihovog facebook profila.
