Their latest, Black Empire is a strong, dark, menacing slice of Heavy Metal from a band with more than enough weight in their pedigree to stop a tank. I am, of course, speaking of Hank Sherman and Michael Denner, both of the uber-legendary Mercyful Fate. The music on this record is an absolute must for fans of early ‘Fate, pre-Paul O’Neill Savatage (ala Sirens or The Dungeons Are Calling), and/or the near-legendary Seattle band Sanctuary. Force Of Evil combine grating, ripping riffs, deft, melodic lead playing, gritty, wailing vocals and tons of Metal muscle and head-banging rhythms into a nearly 60-minute black leather and (also black) denim, horns-throwing joyride into the evil night!
