Kako lose napisana recenzija jbt....pa nista ne saznadoh kakav je album...nidje uporedbi sa prvim fullom i EPom (jer ih kelja nije ni slusala,, a radi recenziju)...
samo eto mozemo ocekivat nesto jako jako brzo...ma de mi reci
Nima: I had seen and read the name Suicidal Angels many times before, but some reason I never felt obligated to check them out. Foolish, as it now seems, because after hearing the second long player ‘Sanctify The Darkness’ I can slap myself for not treating me to a delicious portion of aggression.
There is absolutely nothing original, shocking or renewing about what these Greek fellows unleash on ‘Sanctify The Darkness’, let me get that out of the way first. This band plays “classic†thrash metal, influences by their European partners in crime like Kreator, Destruction and Onslaught, but also Razor, Slayer and especially old Sepultura. Add a touch of (technical) death metal with the likes of Morbid Angel and Pestilence and you’ll know what you can expect; a fistful of metal! However, Suicidal Angels melts the different influences together in such a way that, despite their lack of originality, you can’t compare them directly to any other band. Playing technically and instrumental-wise these gentlemen know their business and the many gigs with Tankard, Kreator, Anvil and fellow countrymen Rotting Christ a.o. have definitely paid off. The songs sound extremely tight and there is nothing to come in between. At some points it sounds even too tight and I get the feeling that the band is not at full attack. Fortunately that doesn’t have any negative influences on the album’s spontaneity. Ah well, let’s just call it “dosed aggressionâ€, because the qualities of this band cannot be denied. The fact that they have won the Rock The Nations Awards earlier this year, outdoing twelve hundred (!!!) fellow metal bands, speaks for itself if you ask me.
Although the album doesn’t have an original second on it and nowadays there are many interesting old-school thrashers around, Suicidal Angels does what many fellow thrashers seem to fail at, and that’s keeping the true essence of old-school thrash alive without losing the eye for modern day aggression. All I can say is: grab on to your shredded tight jeans and bullet belts and start a riot.
