Like 80's styled Bay Area thrash? If so, look no further than the debut release from the UK's Suicide Watch. Featuring former members of Stampin' Ground, Burnside, Taliesin, Failsafe, and Decadence Within, Suicide Watch's take no prisoners style of metal has years of experience behind it, and while the band are by no means breaking new ground in the genre, this is pretty intense stuff.

The influence of classic era Testament, Exodus, Dark Angel, Anthrax, Violence, Slayer, Overkill, Kreator, and Destruction permeate the CD's 13 tracks, with rampaging cuts like "The Devil Rides Out" and the fierce title track leading the way. The lyrics, as you can imagine, all deal with the end of the world, war. political issues, and environmental control, and while the sound is very angry and aggressive, these guys actually have some thoughtful and intelligent messages to convey. There's no letting up here, just non-stop mosh pit mania featuring speedy thrash guitar riffs, manic rhythms, and plenty of screaming vocal shouts. Most of the songs are fairly short and tend to sound pretty similar to each other, but it makes for a rampaging good time.

Many fans of the thrash genre over the last 20 years should recognize the cover art done by Ed Repka, who also has worked with Megadeth, Nuclear Assault, Evil Dead, and Biohazard. His work here adds to the 80's feel of the album. So, it you are ready for some pure headbanging metal, Global Warning would be a good choice as your next CD purchase.
