Well, dudes and dudettes… It's been a long fuckin' time since we've recorded anything, so we're finally cranking out a
new album in between a few beers. Our old friend Matt Widener (Cretin, Citizen, ex-Exhumed) is doing a great job at the production / engineering end – the album is already sounding great, and we aren't even into the mixing stage yet. Col and I went down to our jam space in South SF and bashed out the drum tracks in under 5 hours… Andy Maniac was in rare form, totally punishing his kit. I definitely had my work cut out for me over the next week, cutting as many guitar tracks as possible, and definitely more than would be adviseable under any sane circumstances. The sound was further heavied up by some pounding bass by Mr. Bulldoze this past weekend, and some chainsaw guitar dives from Mr. Attacker, providing some teeth to the lead sections alongside my would be Hammett / Holt / Hunolt-isms…
As far as actual hard "news" I suppose… The record's got a title,
The Storm Before the Calm, and has 8 songs and one little interlude type-piece… Early faves are "Toxic Sanctuary", "The Call to Combat", and "Run With the Pack". Definitely our best, heaviest, most powerful shit to date. Not quite as "German" as "WWD…YWO", a bit more true to the bay area style, mixed with a serious dose of Slayer, Dark Angel, and of course Kreator. Still working out the details of the albums release, but it's gonna be fucking killer.
