As artistic pedigree goes, well, you be the judge: Drummer John Roman (formerly of the 1985) and guitarist/vocalist Dr. David Kuzy founded the group with original bass player Steve Moore (now of Relapse records artists Zombi) for their first three independent releases, and only recently have parted ways with Jason Jouver, now serving as one-half of the rhythm section of the reactivated Don Caballero. Longtime fan and former Creation is Crucifixion/Fate of Icarus/Conelrad guitarist Adam MacGregor hastily purchased the remainder of Moore's 'waves-era bass gear to step up and round out the lineup in November of 2005, just in time to record the band's latest record, to be released by the Crucial Blast labelAl Hotchkisshttp://www.myspace.com/alhotchk1ssPsychedelic / Garage / Surf
A young singer songwriter who claims to be influenced by, among others, Syd Barrett, Link Wray, Roky Erickson, Sean Bonniwell, Scott Walker and thee Billy Childish, is not lacking in confidence. But his confidence is well founded if the tracks on his myspace site are typical. From the Link Wray influenced Nuggets era psych garage wig out Channel X (which has more than a few echoes of the Acid Fascists )via Roadracers mix of Loaded era Primal Scream and the Electric Prunes through the surprisingly laid back, cool and soothing Flores to the, well, beatific Beatifics young Mr Hotchkiss backs his confidence up. These are songs that are the antithesis of anything covered in the NME these days and are all the better for that. They walk on the other side of the road to the Kooks, Klaxons and other bands that don't begin with the letter K, without even a doff of the cap in that direction. If you still use words like Freak Out, Far Out and Cosmic or are looking for someone who is well away from the centrepoint of todays music scene (and could therefore be the centrepoint of tomorrows music scene) then look no further than Al Hotchkiss.Sex Partyhttp://www.myspace.com/sexxxparty

"Hushed melodic sub-synth themes dodge around walls of alternately post-punk and industrial guitars, fitting perfectly into the hyper-sexualised, obnoxious stereotype headed by followers of perverted 'Teaches of Peaches' disciples like Stinkmitt."
"Male and female vocal trade offs, corralling verses of pseudo-psycho, sexually-analytical lyrics without nearly as much cheek as even X-tina bothers with."
-Exclaim! magazine
"It’s really that hipster, Spin magazine, dance-electro rock with the tight American Apparel spandex, you know what I’m saying? Musically they’re great and they’ll get the party started."
-SEE magazine
"Who doesn't love a sexy party? Ones where the participants are smokin' hot, as is the case with this Red Deer quartet, are especially great."
"I expect the term Sex Party will soon hold a whole new meaning; Look for it in the lights."
