28 years after the band Minor Threat released the song ‘Straight Edge’, the counterculture known as Straight Edge has become a worldwide phenomenon that unites individuals rejecting all forms of intoxication. The most widely associated perception of Straight Edge involves abstinence from alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and promiscuous sex. Since it’s origin in the early 1980’s these beliefs have spread all over the world, connected through the Punk and Hardcore music scenes. Through interviews with musicians that directly shaped the idea of Straight Edge from its inception until today, EDGE - perspectives on drug free culture reveals that the abstinence from drugs was established as a youth counter culture rejecting a society dominated by substance abuse and hegemony. Ian MacKaye (Minor Threat, Fugazi), Ray Cappo (Youth of Today, Shelter) and Karl Buechner (Earth Crisis, Freya) give witness to their perception of the history of Straight Edge, why it was so important to them and what it changed in their personal and professional careers. But they also address problems like violence, sexism and intolerance that emerged within Straight Edge, and how it changed the ’scene’ as well as its public image. Furthermore, EDGE explores the lives of 10 individuals, that identify as Straight Edge. Their reasons range from negative experiences with drugs to maintaining a healthy lifestyle to political reasons. Through a very close and personal look into their daily lives, we see how their decision to live ‘poison free’ has changed the world for them. But how do people discover Straight Edge? How do women experience Straight Edge subculture? What social backgrounds are shared by people new to the scene and what makes someone turn Straight Edge? How does mainstream culture perceive this movement? EDGE is looking for answers to these questions on a roadtrip behind and beyond the scenes of the Straight Edge subculture.

kratak sxe dokumentarac koji je radio neki malac za skolski projekat..
ima nekih stvari sa kojima se ne slazem,al je ostalo manje vise ok.

Mislim da sXe ima i svojih dobrih i loših strana. Prvenstveno ne volim one ljude koji "ne rade nešto što radi većina na planeti" i onda idu ulicom i o tome pričaju na sav glas svima. Ne u mislu promocije/širenja ideje - nego ničim izazvani uleti tipa "ej, ja ti ne jedem ovo. ne pijem ono, kuzis". Ne volim takve ispade i mislim da su takvi ljudi daleko od sXe i ostalih poimanja i da je to furanje nečega o čemu zapravo pojma nemaju.

Isto tako, što je axegrinder rekao, ako netko ide svojim putem i ima neke svoje ciljeve i drži se toga - kapa dolje. Osobno, mene od sXe "deklariranja" dijeli samo alkohol. Ali alkohol mi nije ovisnost ili potreba, tako da to ne svrstavam u tu grupu. Ne treba mi nikakvo deklariranje i sortiranje tipa "ti si ovakav ili onakav, ti si strejt, ti imaš dugu/kratku kosu, ti si vege / vegan..." dokle god je ono što ja radim, mislim i imam u glavi povezano kao cijelina i dokle god je to meni i za mene ispravno.

Svijet se neće promjeniti ako netko ne jede meso, ne puši ili ne pije. Ali osobe sigurno hoće. Ne drastično prema okolini koja u ovim krajevima reagira na to gore od zločina - ali prema sebi samom, sigurno hoće...

Tako da pričati treba, forsirati nikako.

moje misljenje je opet da SxE kao ideja nema losih strana,a da su ljudi ti koji zakrivljuju sve ideje,pa tako i SxE.
nema tu neke velike folozofije,ima par načela i to je to.
svako od tih načela je ispravno i pozitivno.
e sad sto postoji 100 ljudi 100 cudi,te + odraz njihove licnosti kakva god da je,nemoze biti faktor koji se odrazava na samu sxe ideju.

a generalno sama hardkor/pank prica te i sxe prica u svojim temeljima puno "pricaju" i podsticu na razmisljanje.
ima i onih koji forsiraju..lose.
kao i onih sa druge strane sto forsiraju.
njih je puno vise..a i tegobnije slusati.

Ma nes ja bezze prije neki dan provjerovao, gledo onaj gangland dokumentarac kad su pricali o onima iz fsua, a vidim u komentarima ispod da pise to za Will Smitha... Provjerim na netu, kad stvarno istina :lol:

Nemam, imas na youtubeu, mislim da ne national to radio... Uglavnom, lik ide po svijetu, i radi dokumentarce o ulicnim bandama. Ukucaj na youtube fsu gangnland, izaci ce ti o bostonskoj ulicnoj bandi koja je nastala da bi razbila nazi skinheadse u hc sceni, da bi kasnije postali obicni ulicni batinasi. Pricalo se o njima na forumu u nekoliko navrata.

doslo je do toga gdje iz osnovne ideje krenuo neki militantni pokret, gdje bukvalno pokusavaju nametati drugima straight edge nacin zivota
tamo u Reno-u kao bande krenule, ovo ono

nako za mene, autsajdera, pravo zanimljivo
