Ej, mrsko mi prevodit, evo moj usputni osvrt na novi album s jednog stranog foruma
Sta me briga ako je kome ovo bezveze, album je fenomenalan:
"Slayer - Christ Illusion review:
-
Flesh Storm 10/10 - Complete destruction and ultimate fucking mayhem or whatever... This is a Seasons In The Abyss era song, through and through. Actually, it doesn't really matter if this is similar to older Slayer, the fact is this song rules, just as the rest of the album. VERY fast. Better than War Ensemble. A classic.
-
Catalyst 10/10 - Arraya destroys here. There's a genius riff at 0:28 and an excellent solo ten seconds later. Again, very fast song.
-
Eyes Of The Insane 9/10 - First song on the album that is immense grower. This one grows so much it's not even funny. I like the lyrics about post war traumatics or whatever, they're cool. Also, it's the first of the two midpaced songs on the album and is very moody.
-
Jihad 9/10 - Completely over the top song. Fast. Another huge grower. At first I didn't like this one because of the way Arraya sings, but again, it grows. Beggining of the song fits perfectly with the image of planes crushing into WTC, it's just sick. Becomes more like something off Diabolus In Musica near the end. The part from 1:50 to 2:45 is the highlight of the song, featuring an incredible riff and an even more incredible solo.
-
Skeleton Christ 10/10 - One of the finest examples of Slayer's songwriting since 1988. Another grower. Very catchy riffs and groove, especially during the chorus. Very thrashy and fast. Lombardo elevates the song as well with some interesting drumming.
-
Consfearacy 10/10 - A fucking TEN if there was one! Extremely groovy and ultra fast at the same time, this is insane!! Only Slayer can do this kind of stuff... Lombardo rules here. Riffs and trademark Slayer background harmonies are so devastatingly catchy, original, fresh, energizing, it's incredible! I'm at the loss of words here. This song is also pretty punkish (not a bad thing, it just seems like something off Reign In Blood). Also, Arraya matches his singing perfectly with the rhythm, just like he did on Reign In Blood.
-
Black Serenade 10/10 - Oh my fucking god, will this ever stop? Begins midpaced, but picks up on the speed later. Very fast, catchy, groovy, original, you name it. The whole album has some of the most original riffs and harmonies Slayer has ever composed.
-
Catatonic 8/10 - Great skill from Lombardo at 2:42. This is the second midpaced song on the album and is VERY heavy. Musically, it sounds like a combination of slower numbers off God Hates Us All and Divine Intervention. Vocally, it's God Hates Us All style. There are really interesting melodies here, and the chorus is crazy. And it grows a lot, of course. Although this one is abso-fucking-lutely excellent and has some great riffs, it remains the weakest effort on the album.
-
Cult 10/10 - Again, very fast and complex. Musically, this is the most progressive song on the album, there are some strange timings and it takes some time to get used to it. Solos are utterly devastating in this one and Lombardo shows incredible skill throughout the song. Riffs are very strange and original, especially the one that kicks in at 1:11 and the main riff. Chorus is extremely catchy and fast, I only heard Arraya spitting out lyrics that fast in Hell Awaits, Jesus Saves, Necrophobic and Dittohead.
-
Supremist 10/10 - There's even a blast beat in this song. Nuff said.
This album is VERY thrashy and fast, and might even rise to the classic status. Musically, there's A LOT of stuff happening in songs, so it grows endlessly. Slayer's derranged solos are often hard to digest for some people, but I always thought they ARE NOT randomized, and that there's a great sense of twisted melodic order to them. They just picture the atmosphere and lyrics perfectly. There are a lot of them on Christ Illusion

and they kick in at right times. Excellent songwriting. There are no Deviance-like songs on this album, only a soundtrack for some insane headbanging.
This is probably the best Slayer album since South Of Heaven, but to true Slayer fan that doesn't say much, because they're all of pretty much equall quality. Sometimes I can listen to Hell Awaits all the day and claim it's their best album, and sometimes I think God Hates Us All is on par with Reign In Blood. It's all just excellent metal, and Christ Illusion is no exception.

This is an album with a lot of character.
Overall - 10 out of fucking 10. The most refreshing piece of thrash since the end of the 80's."
